Our approach to photography, editing, and emerging technology
Photography is at the heart of what we do. The images we present
as client photography begin with real people, real products,
real places, and photographs created through our work.
We also believe modern tools can make a professional workflow
better. Fox Hill Studio may use AI-assisted and computational
technologies where they improve quality, efficiency, or the
usefulness of a finished image — while maintaining the integrity
of the work we deliver.
AI-Assisted Editing
Modern photography software increasingly incorporates artificial
intelligence into tools photographers have used for years.
Depending on the project, we may use these technologies for
functions such as noise reduction, masking, sharpening, color
correction, object removal, background cleanup, image expansion,
or other post-production refinements.
These tools assist the editing process. Creative decisions,
image selection, finishing, and quality control remain guided
by human judgment.
Retouching Without Reinventing You
Our goal in portrait retouching is polish, not transformation.
We may refine temporary distractions, stray hairs, lint,
background elements, skin tone, lighting, or similar details
while preserving the recognizable appearance and character
of the person photographed.
More substantial alterations can be discussed when they are
appropriate for a particular commercial or creative project.
Products, Places & Commercial Reality
When photography is intended to represent a client’s product,
facility, team, event, or other real-world subject, we believe
the finished work should remain a fair representation of that
subject.
Digital cleanup may improve presentation, but we do not use
generative tools to materially invent product features, fabricate
client facilities, create nonexistent events, or otherwise
misrepresent reality without clear creative intent and client
awareness.
Generative Imagery
Generative AI can be useful for concept development, visual
exploration, mockups, compositing, background creation, and
other clearly creative applications.
When generative imagery plays a material role in a finished
client deliverable, its use will be appropriate to the project
and will not be presented deceptively as documentary photography
of something that actually occurred.
Our Portfolio
We believe clients should be able to evaluate photographers based
on work they actually create. Photography represented in our
portfolio as commissioned or client photography reflects genuine
photographic work.
AI-assisted retouching or post-production may be part of that
process, just as other professional editing technologies may be.
Fully generated concept imagery, when used, will not knowingly be
represented as an original commissioned photograph.
A Tool, Not a Substitute for Craft
Cameras, lighting systems, editing software, computational
photography, and artificial intelligence are all tools.
We use technology when it helps us produce better work or provide
a better client experience — not as a substitute for the
photography, judgment, and craftsmanship our clients hire us for.
